Alumni Updates: Tricia Nicholson

Welcome back to Alumni Updates!

This time, hear from Tricia Nicholson:

Hello!! My name is Tricia, and in 2021, I graduated from UChicago with a degree in neuroscience. During my tenure at UChicago, I was involved in the community service fraternity APO, NEURO Club, and UChicago Mutual Aid. I am currently in my second of an indeterminate number of gap years (highly recommend!!). I hope to eventually attend graduate school to receive a PhD in Clinical Psychology with the goal of ultimately becoming a practicing psychologist.
After completing my thesis, “Depression, Suicidality and Severity of Homelessness Influences Working Memory in Chicago Homeless Youth”, I accepted a full-time position at Chicago Booth’s Roman Family Center for Decision Research. I handle back-end operations for the Center and external programming that focuses on communicating the findings and applications of behavioral science in the real world. In addition to education and outreach, the Roman Family Center conducts active research at our campus lab, our virtual lab, and downtown at Mindworks: The Science of Thinking. Mindworks is the world’s first storefront behavioral science laboratory and discovery center. It is open to the public, and almost anyone can participate in studies that contribute to upcoming behavioral science research.
My advice to undergrads would be to remember that there is almost an unlimited amount of applications for your degree and to try not to get too worried about what life will be like after college. You may feel like there is pressure to figure out all of your life goals right away, but I promise you will be okay and find a path that speaks to you!
